On Thursday, September 10 at 7pm, we hope you’ll join us for an evening with translators Laura Cesarco Eglin and Stalina Villarreal, who will read from and speak about their work translating (respectively) Sardine, by Miriam Reyes (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2026), and we'll go as I think of you / iremos que te pienso, by Minerva Reynosa (El Martillo Press, 2026).
On Sardine, by Miriam Reyes:

Miriam Reyes is the author of several poetry collections including Bella durmiente, finalist for the 19th Hiperión Poetry Prize (Hiperión) and Con (La bella Varsovia), for which she received the 2025 National Poetry Prize of Spain. In addition to being a poet, Reyes is an editor and translator into Spanish. Since the year 2000 Reyes has been combining poetry with other arts and technologies.
Laura Cesarco Eglin is a poet and award-winning translator from Uruguay. She is the author of three collections of poetry and five chapbooks, including, most recently, Break a Part (Finishing Line Press, 2026). She is the co-founding editor and publisher of Veliz Books and teaches creative writing at the University of Houston-Downtown.

Minerva Reynosa (Monterrey, Mexico. 1979). Poet, instructor, and cultural consultant. She is head of the National Coordination of Literature (CNL) with The National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), an agency of the Ministry of Culture of the Mexican government. The winner of the 2025 Efraín Huerta National Poetry Award, she has published eleven books, and her poems have been translated into German, English, Swedish, Russian, and French. She co-edits Muiraquitã Proyecto Fanzinero de Poesía; and collaborates with Benjamín Moreno in the experimental project Benerva!
Stalina Emmanuelle Villarreal is an ekphrastic poet, a photographic eco-essayist, a broad-stroke sketch artist, a sonic improv performer, a sound-sensitive literary translator, and an assistant professor of English. Her bilingualism stems from her 1.5-generation experience being both Mexican and Xicanx. She is the author of the collection Watcha (Deep Vellum). Stalina is the recipient of the Inprint Donald Barthelme Prize in Poetry.
