About
Rye Mountain Revelry is simultaneously new and nostalgic; blending driving bluegrass rhythms and instrumentation with country, rock and psychedelic infusions, creating a sound they uniquely call “Cosmic Appalachia”. The band’s energetic performances transport audiences away from the tolls of modernity as Rye Mountain Revelry blends musicianship with tradition. Combining traditional bluegrass instruments (fiddle, mandolin, upright bass, banjo) with the vibes of classic rock ‘n’ roll, the band rounds out their sound with thoughtful, allegorical lyrics.
With roots in Central Texas and Appalachian Kentucky, the band formed their name from a love of the mountains and the Bluegrass State’s official libation - bourbon. They draw their influences from the bluegrass, country, psychedelic and rock movements and revivals of the late 20th century, notably from Gram Parsons, Buck Owens, Tom Petty and The Band.
