Don Was is a Grammy-winning American musician and record producer who assembled the Pan-Detroit Ensemble to showcase top jazz and roots players from his hometown. The group recorded the album Groove in the Face of Adversity (released 2025 on Mack Avenue) and has toured performing originals and notable arrangements, including a live rendition of the Grateful Dead’s Blues for Allah.
